Harpist, Host, Composer
When we think of heaven, what do we see? We conjure images of angels playing their harps, giving us a sense of lightness, peacefulness and tranquility. This sense can now be felt here on earth with the music of Noelle Cassandra, a Canadian from Vancouver, British Columbia who has recently made Manila her home.
Noelle Cassandra's debut album, under Dyna Records, was launched October 2006 where she showed her flair as harpist, vocalist, and songwriter. Her self-titled album includes 7 original pop ballad compositions and 3 remakes - 2 OPM and the popular Pachelbel's Canon which Noelle Cassandra arranged and played with the flute. Noelle Cassandra's debut album has drawn the attention of the music industry with her original violin/harp composition Forbidden Love being named a nominee in the recent 2007 Awit Award's Best Instrumental category and her album was a nominee in the 2007 CMMA (Catholic Mass Media Awards) in the Best Secular Album category.
Noelle Casssandra's first public performance was as a guest artist at Ms. Kuh Ledesma's Tribute to George Canseco. Since then she has had the opportunity to work with some of the Philippine's most renowned artists including Sharon Cuneta, Louie Ocampo, Martin Nievera, Tots Tolentino and John Lesaca.
Noelle Cassandra is not only a talented musician but an elite badminton player. She was a recipient of Petro-Canada's Olympic Torch Fund Scholarship and has won numerous athletic awards in both basketball and badminton. She represented British Columbia in several national tournaments including the 2003 Canada Winter Games playing singles, doubles and mixed. Since arriving in the Philippines , (going by her badminton nickname, "Casey") she continues to excel in both music and sports and is the title-holder for Mixed Doubles in the 2007 Yonex-Sunrise Philippines National Open Badminton Tournament Open level.
In addition to being a rare combination of music and sports excellence, Noelle Cassandra has a heightened awareness of sharing her blessings. She is the founder of N.C. ROCs (Noelle Cassandra's Reach-Out Club) which provides community service and outreach programs. As a volunteer music teacher, she provides a safe environment for the girls at Marillac Hills in Muntinlupa to develop their skills, confidence and self-esteem. She also helps with fund-raising for the Beijing International Committee for Chinese Orphans (BICCO) which sends Filipino trainers to China 's orphanages to provide and teach physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
Noelle Cassandra is a classically trained harpist beginning formal harp studies at the tender age of 4. She attained a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia where she was awarded the Dr and Mrs. A M Bomstead Scholarship.
In addition to her live performances where she entertains her audience not only with her music but also with her sense of humor, she is also a favorite for corporate shows and special events. Her latest kudos was the invitation to play at international artist Josh Groban's Philippine concert this October 2007. Her self-titled debut album and live performances treats listeners to a little slice of heaven on earth with a mix of originals and remakes of classical, ballad and pop music with vocals and harp instrumental music.
Cassandra also performed as guest artist recently at Dream Weddings and Destinations - Before I Do Bridal Fair.
