The wedding ceremony takes place underneath the huppah, the traditional Jewish wedding canopy, consisting of four poles and a cloth overhead. It is the symbol of the home that the bride and groom will build together and the security and protection they offer each other. The poles represent the pillars of the faith and trust on which a marriage is based, and its openness on all sides invites everyone to share in the joy of the wedding.
